I hope it is obvious that these photos are placeholders until I have time to stage such an event worthy of Instagram. Until then, I want to introduce myself. Hi, I’m Susan Methven. I have lived in Whatcom and Skagit my entire life. I grew up in a home where food was cherished and fed our souls as well as our bodies. My most treasured memories are of fishing, crabbing, gardening, and being part of preparing the feasts, honoring what we harvested.
My mother always had a dessert, every night, and we ate together at the table. Those rhythms of family meals and sweets led me into a life working in bakeries and kitchens. I also worked for and retired from the airlines, and travel has been and remains an amazing part of my life. Wherever I go, I take a cooking class, and they become my cherished memories. After retiring from Alaska Air, I studied culinary and pastry arts. My passion is crafting the most accurate, memorable flavors. Seeing people enjoy what I’ve created matters deeply. I want to share the connections and joy that food has given me with others. Thank you for reading. A more polished version will replace this in time.
